Carl Mays Freedom Celebration

The Carl Mays Freedom Celebration is an annual event that takes place during the end of June.  After the successful effort initiated by the Mansfield Area Historical Society to induct Carl Mays into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame, the 2010 Freedom Celebration committee elected to further honor Mays by naming the celebration after him. This year the community will see the dedication and unveiling of a monument to Mays on the Park Square.  About 20 members of the Mays family is expected to join in the celebration.  The Associated Press will also be in town to cover the festivities.  The Mansfield Area Historical Society will be unveiling special Carl Mays displays which will include unpublished photos and other items that once belonged to Mays.

As in years past, there will be an Alumni Baseball Game; however due to the heat the game has been set for later in the evening.  Click here for the Alumni Baseball Sign-Up Form.  The Celebration committee would like all Mansfield Alumni that went to state to ride in the parade. The parade is open for all to join! Booth spaces are available. Click here for booth information and contract. Any vendors with booths who participate in the parade is eligible for $10.00 discount on the booth fee.

The Celebration committee is looking for local to provide entertainment on the Park Square Gazebo.
